Your Home for Jewish Life in Brownsville

Brownsville is Texas’ southernmost, international seaport and the largest city in Cameron County. Visitors from all over the United States and Canada are drawn to Brownsville because of our resort-like atmosphere and warm, fun-loving people.

Brownsville’s semi-tropical climate is recognized as one of the most delightful in the nation. The white beaches of South Padre Island are only minutes away.

There has been a Jewish population in Brownsville since the mid 1800’s and the first Jewish house of worship was built in 1931. When the congregation outgrew that facility, the present Temple Beth-El building was built in 1989.
