Lazar (Buck) Sommer was born on September 28, 1927, to Nathan and Zina Sommer.
His birth certificate shows his name as Lazarus. His parents were from Romania.
He was born in Brownsville but moved with his parents to San Francisco where he
worked. He enlisted in the US Army during the Korean War. Buck Sommer returned to
Brownsville in 1957.
He was employed by Texas Commerce Bank as a commercial loan officer and retired in
1986.
Lazar (Buck) Sommer died on September 6, 1987, at the age of fifty-eight. He is buried
in the Hebrew Cemetery.
